American Bresse Reserve™ Hatching Eggs give breeders and serious homesteaders access to carefully selected American Bresse genetics raised in a managed breeding program focused on structure, vigor, and long-term flock performance.
Unlike mass hatchery eggs, these fertile eggs come from actively monitored breeding groups where birds are selected for balanced body structure, fertility, and consistent performance.
If you are looking to establish or expand a Bresse flock, starting with carefully selected hatching eggs allows you to raise birds within your own environment from the very beginning.
The Bresse chicken originated in eastern France and became internationally known for producing some of the most respected poultry meat in the world.
Modern American Bresse programs maintain the same foundational traits that made the breed famous:
• balanced growth and muscle development
• strong pasture performance
• efficient feed conversion
• reliable egg production
• hardy temperament
For many homesteaders and poultry breeders, Bresse chickens represent the ideal dual-purpose heritage breed.
American Bresse chickens are valued for both meat production and egg laying ability.
Egg Production
Approximately 200–250 cream-colored eggs per year
Adult Size
Hens: 5.5–6 lbs
Roosters: 6.5–7 lbs
Temperament
Alert, active birds that forage well and adapt to backyard or pasture systems.
Climate Hardiness
Bresse are known to perform well in both hot and cold climates, making them a strong option for homesteads across the United States.
Appearance
White plumage, bright red combs, and distinctive blue steel legs—the classic colors associated with the historic Bresse chicken.
Many farms sell hatching eggs.
Few operate an actual breeding program.
Our American Bresse flocks are maintained with attention to:
• breeder health and nutrition
• consistent fertility monitoring
• egg quality selection
• structural traits in breeding birds
Eggs that are cracked, thin shelled, misshapen, or unusually small are never shipped.
This selection process helps ensure that only strong incubation candidates leave the farm.
Every order is shipped in custom foam egg shippers designed specifically for hatching eggs.
This packaging helps protect eggs from the vibration and impacts that can occur during transit.
Each order is packed carefully and shipped promptly to help preserve freshness and viability.
Shipping hatching eggs always carries some risk due to handling and incubation conditions.
While no farm can control shipping carriers or individual incubators, we do stand behind the quality of the eggs we ship.
Customers who follow proper incubation practices and document their hatch process receive access to our outcome protection support if issues occur.
We also provide extended protection when customers use our recommended supplement protocols, helping strengthen chicks during early development.
Choose the quantity that fits your incubator capacity:
• 6 American Bresse Hatching Eggs
• 12 American Bresse Hatching Eggs
• 24 American Bresse Hatching Eggs
Egg quantities are limited based on breeder production cycles.
American Bresse hatching eggs are commonly purchased by:
• homesteaders raising their own meat birds
• poultry breeders developing heritage flocks
• small farms building dual-purpose poultry systems
• backyard flock enthusiasts interested in premium genetics
• educational incubation projects
Because Bresse chickens are known worldwide for their culinary reputation and breeding value, they remain one of the most sought-after heritage poultry breeds available today.
For best results when incubating Bresse eggs:
Temperature
99.5°F
Turning
Turn eggs regularly during the first 18 days
Humidity
Maintain consistent humidity levels
Lockdown
Allow chicks to hatch naturally during the final incubation phase
Stable incubator conditions and careful handling significantly improve hatch success.
Yes, shipped eggs can hatch successfully when handled properly. However, shipping conditions and incubator setup both influence results.
Most breeders allow eggs to rest 12–24 hours before placing them in the incubator.
Allow eggs to reach room temperature before setting and avoid washing them, as this removes the natural protective bloom.
Bresse chickens are typically raised by small breeding programs rather than large hatcheries, which allows breeders to focus on flock structure, performance, and long-term genetics.
Kept me informed each set of the way. From order to shipment to arrival. Just a side note. A also order from another hatchery, They don’t even come close to Az Chickens customer service and communication
Thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to leave a review. We are delighted to hear that you were satisfied with our customer service and communication throughout your experience. We strive to provide transparency and the best experience for our customers, and we are glad to know that we exceeded your expectations. Thank you for choosing Az Chickens, and we hope you enjoy your White Bresse! (They're a favorite around here, so if you have questions please ask!)
Overall disappointed. I purchased 24 eggs (no extras were sent), only 8 developed, 6 hatched, and 2 hatched out with severe wry neck. I tried to save the 2 wry necks, but after a week of no improvement, I ended up culling them. So out of 24 eggs, I only got 4 chicks (17%). For that rate and cost, it would have been cheaper to just buy the chicks.
At the same time that I set the AZ Bresse eggs, I also set another dozen shipped eggs from a different Bresse breeder. Those eggs hatched with 83% success rate. So pretty sure it wasn't an incubation problem.

We offer scheduled local pickup for pullets and adult hens in Arizona through meetups in cities like Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Globe, Waddell, and Tucson. We do not operate a walk-in retail store or farm tours. Baby chicks, hatching eggs and quail are raised at our Texas location and ship by mail.
Because we ship from Texas rather than directly out of Arizona's hottest months, we can offer baby chicks most of the year with adjustments around extreme heat or cold. Peak chick season fills early, so it's smart to reserve your ship window in advance for the breeds you want even though we do have off-season availability.
The Arizona location is near Globe, AZ, though we do not operate a store. It is our home and farm. The Arizona location manages our seasonally grown hen orders. The Texas farm is located near Tyler, TX. The Texas location manages our breeders, baby chicks and quail. We ship year round from our Texas farm supporting families around the US.
